These are the stunning new turbine blades I made out of some discarded pipes I discovered in the woods. I used a stanley knife to cut the plastic according to what seems like a fairly aerodynamic shape. The hub is currently the old room cooler fitting with the blades bolted on but it needs improving since its too flexible so the blades will wobble. I fancy using a piece of circular wood so it looks like a trip to the woods is in the offing again!
This is certainly stepping up the prototype as these blades are pretty heavy duty and hefty so should be capable of turning quite a powerful turbine under the right conditions.

Wish us luck!

Tim :-))

Hmmm...this design seems a wee bit over-the-top now. I decided to combine Windy Cindy I and III. So I now have the balsa wood blades bolted onto the original room cooler blades, effectively extending them but in a little lighter fashion than the heavy pipes design. I've also been playing around with some 'meccano' type of fittings - trying to make the whole thing a bit more solid/'professional'; although we can't expect too much from the DIY approach in terms of well 'polished' products. Not our aim AT ALL.
